Friday play is complete at the Viking Tour's Great Southern Classic and the first round of the 9-ball division is complete.
The field of 107 players in the 9-ball division includes 6 females including WPBA pros Helena Thornfeldt and Monica Webb. The field would have had another WPBA star if Sarah Rousey hadn't arrived late to the tournament.
Larry Nevel started the 9-ball division with a slim lead over Jerry Slivka in the all-around points list and received a nice gift when Slivka lost his first round match to Brian Butler in the first round. Nevel earned a hard fought hill-hill win over Ronnie Wiseman in the first round.
Jonathan Pinegar (Hennessee) was the winner of the 8-man ring 10-ball game on Thursday night and pocketed $3000 for finishing on top of a field of players including Charlie Mora, Tang Hoa, Larry Nevel, Cliff Joyner, Ronnie Wiseman, John Macias and Chris Bartrum. Mora finished second and earned $1000.
