John Binion earned a narrow win over Adam Smith to take the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour Stop at The Rack in Livonia, MI this weekend.
Binion made it through Saturday play undefeated and went on to take the hot-seat on Sunday with a 9-6 win over Pat White. White then lost to Adam Smith 9-5 on the one-loss side and was forced to settle for 3rd.
Smith came out on fire in the finals and took an early lead over Binion. Binion fought hard to get back into the match, but it was an uphill battle and Smith was able to keep the lead and score a 9-5 win in the first set. The second set was a neck-and-neck affair with the players trading games until the 4-4 mark. Smith took a bit of a lead and got to the hill first at 8-6. Binion clawed back into the match though, and won the last three games for the hill-hill won over Smith.
Binion earned $900 for first, while Smith took home $650 for second. White and Derek Pogirski filled out the top four spots. Aaron Toth won the break contest on Saturday and added $250 to his weekend winnings.
Tour director Mike Janis wished a big thanks to Steve Lomako and his wife Sandy for hosting the event. "Everyone had a great time and the players were treated fantastic all weekend long." Janis commented.
The Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour will be at Rockford Billiard Caf? in Rockford, IL next weekend for a $2000 added event, and will then be at The Pool Room in Marietta, GA on February 26th-27th for a $10,000 added Regional Championship.
