With the first day of play complete at the 2004 Big Apple 9-Ball Challenge, the field is proving to not be as strong as it first appeared. The all-star field of talent is filled with top players who did not make the trip to New York. Players who are on the board, but not in New York include Jimmy Fusco, Allen Hopkins, Jose Garcia, Jimmy Wetch, Ronnie Wiseman and Corey Deuel.
Of the players who are in New York, there were very few upsets. The biggest surpise match results of the day were Frankie Hernandez's victory over Japanese Champion Hiroshi Takenaka and Fabio Petroni's forfeit to Evan Broxmeyer.
Friday will feature marquee matches including Johnny Archer vs Hernandez, Jeremy Jones vs Tony Crosby, Thorsten Hohmann vs Rodney Morris and Young Hwa Jeong vs Danny Harriman.
Online brackets are updated with all results from Thursday.
