Corey Deuel might have had his soft break working to perfection at the 2005 UPA World Summit of Pool, but in the end it wasn't enough for him to keep Marcus Chamat from the winners circle.
Chamat made his way to the TV rounds with wins over such notables as Rodney Morris and Thorsten Hohmann. His opponent in the quarter finals was Mika Immonen, who had sent Deuel to the left side of the board 11-6 in his previous match. The quarter final went hill-hill, but Chamat pulled out the win for the hot-seat.
Immonen got to the one loss side and found Deuel waiting for revenge. Deuel had turned his game up a notch since his earlier loss to Immonen and scored dominating wins over Charlie Williams and Jeremy Jones. The rematch went Deuel's was as he scored a hill-hill win over Immonen to earn a spot in the finals.
The final match between Deuel and Chamat was a 7-4 victory and a $10,000 payday for Chamat. Deuel settled for $5000. Immonen and Jones filled out the top four spots.
