It started one afternoon at St. Paul's Health Center in Denver Hugh “Frank” Wilson told Jeremy Bloom that his wish of a lifetime was to get a pool table. Unfortunately, his room at St. Paul's Health Center really couldn't accommodate a pool table, so Jeremy Bloom's Wish of a Lifetime (JBWOL) is partnered with St. Paul's Health Center and Senior Helpers Denver to grant 83-year-old Hugh Wilson his wish of a lifetime – to play pool again.
Joined by 10 additional seniors and his family, WPBA touring professional and champion Melissa “The Viper” Little was on hand at The Wynkoop to work with the seniors. Melissa even had some special pool cues made for those in wheel chairs. Wish recipient Hugh Wilson played pool as a hobby and even played with Willy Masconi, an American professional pool player nicknamed “Mr. Pocket Billiards.”
Two years ago, Mr. Wilson had to quit playing pool for health reasons. He was born in California in 1927 and is retired from the air force where he performed as an aircraft and missile frame maintenance technician.
Melissa “The Viper” Little, ranked #15th in the world of professional pool spent a great deal of time playing and teaching the seniors how to hone their pool skills. There were times when it was very clear that these guys knew their game and gave her some competition.
Frank and the guys were thrilled to get to play with a professional pool player as they lined up to receive a photo with Melissa and waited patiently for an autographed poster of “The Viper”.
