Vivian Villarreal and Melissa Little
Vivian Villareal jumped up to a 6-0 lead for the hot seat against Kim Pierce only to have a minor hiccup on the nine ball to allow Kim to take one game before sending her to face Melissa Little on the one loss side with a 7-1 victory. Meanwhile, Melissa Little still at full speed from the gear she caught earlier, takes care of Nicole Keeney 7-3. Nicole finished nicely in 4th place. Melissa Little takes Kim Pierce 7-4 with a cheese on the last game to top it off. Kim Pierce played well earning an impressive 3rd place.
The final showdown between Vivian Villareal and Melissa Little (last year’s champion) was all the buzz as the Tornado was undefeated and Melissa was still in over drive. The first set ran neck and neck as they kept the score tied up until 5-5, when Melissa found yet another gear to take the match 7-5. Set two went exactly the same way. The score stayed tied up until 5-5 but the tables got reversed as Vivian took over to win the match 7-5, crowning Vivian the 2012 Texas Open Champion.
