The Midwest Billiard Expo and Midwest Open Tournament wound down on Sunday.
The Expo was a huge success with over 4000 players and more than 6000 participants through the door. A total of over $55,000 in prize money was handed out.
The Women's 8-ball event was won by Tammie Jones (formerly Tammie Wesley) who lost to Pam Bell in her third match of the event, but then won nine matches on the B-Side before a redeeming victory over Bell in the finals.
Tammie commented after the match how strong the field was. "All the key mid-west players where here. It was really a loaded field. The Diamond tables really played great." Jones has five first place and one second place finish in her last six events on Diamond Tables.
The men's 8-ball event saw Jeff Sergent take the hot-seat and then hold off a late charge from Jason Kirkwood for the victory.
Expo promoters Eydie and Bob Romano said they were overwhelmed by the support from the vendors, sponsors and players. They expresses special thanks to the ACA and Dan Dishaw for the part they played in helping organize this great event.
