The Georgia Billiard Academy (GBA) has been the latest buzz in the billiard scene and has only been open to the public since January 3, 2011 by owner/instructor Chris Niksch. GBA has become an almost overnight sensation starting with 13 clients and growing to over 80 in 2 1/2 months! GBA has been featured on both CBS Morning News and FOX 5 News, gaining exposure that has had clients piling in from across the state and even state lines (Alabama)!
It is the first of its kind, offering a state-of-the-art training facility with a family-friendly atmosphere that provides education and training on the game of pocket billiards for those who have a desire to learn the game or improve on their game for competitive play. The facility is equipped with the latest technology and equipment that will enhance the skills of players ranging from the very beginner all the way to the very seasoned players of all ages from 6 on up.
Chris Niksch's goal is to change the face of billiards away from the typical smoky pool hall, alcohol, and gambling that is not kid-friendly or conducive to a wholesome game that should be en-joyed by all ages. Billiards, like any sport or game, is a great after-school activity or weekend activity that should be able to be enjoyed by all and is already well-known and played by many.
Johnny Archer, who is also one of the owners of the Marietta Billiard Club which is only a mile and a half down the road from the academy, has been a huge supporter of GBA and gave a testimony during the February 21st airing of the CBS Morning News spotlight of how much he believes in Chris' ultimate goal of bringing more kids into the game of billiards. Johnny has said “teaching the kids the game is vital to the future of billiards.” Johnny Archer has now partnered with GBA as a supporter and consultant.
The Georgia Billiard Academy offers clients personalized “training sessions” for very reasonable rates that are custom-tailored to their skill level and specific needs in a fun atmosphere that has been proven to improve their game in very little time! Team sessions and 2 and 3 day clinics are offered as well. Clients out of Alabama have already utilized the benefits of the clinics.
The Lifetime Membership Program also allows clients to save on rates as well as offering discounts through their Discount Partners at businesses such as Marietta Wine Market, Starlight Café, Marietta Golf Center, and much more!
