The Planet Pool Tour drew a field of 64 players to Breaktime Sports Grill & Pub in Salisbury, MD this weekend where the big story was Niels Feijen and his girlfriend Katrine Jensen.
Feijen and Jensen stopped in on their way to Valley Forge and flexed their euro-muscle in the event. Feijen was undefeated until early Sunday when he dropped a match to Deleware's Lee Holt. Holt went on to beat Mike Davis 9-8 for the hot-seat and sent Davis to the left side of the board. Feijen, known as 'The Terminator', was waiting for Davis on the one-loss side and scored a 7-4 win to earn a rematch with Holt in the finals.
The finals were a dominating display by Feijen as he cruised to an 11-4 win.
Feijen earned $1200 for first, while Holt settled for $800. Davis and Ben Zimmer filled out the top four spots.
The ladies division looked like it would be a sweep for Feijen and Jensen as Jensen raced to a 6-3 lead over seventeen year old Pam Treadway in the match for the hot-seat. Jensen's race to the hot-seat was quickly brought to a halt as Treadway won four straight games to take the hot-seat 7-6.
The loss to Treadway must have had an effect on Jensen as she crushed Tina Meraglio 5-0 on the one-loss side to earn another shot at Treadway in the finals.
This time, Jensen raced to a 6-0 lead over Treadway and was playing absolutely perfect pool. The was playing perfect pool for only six games though. Treadway came back to win nine of the next ten games in a match that turned out to be a nearly three hour battle.
Treadway pocketed $450 for the win, with Jensen earning $300 for second.
