Ron Casanzio went through a field of 45 other players undefeated, including back to back wins over Tour Director Mike Zuglan, to win the Joss NE 9-Ball Tour stop at Sharpshooters Billiards in Amsterdam, Ny.
Casanzio's first win over Zuglan happened in the hot-seat match, where he scored a lopsided 9-4 win over the tour's longtime tour director.
After Zuglan eliminated Joss Tour Points Leader Bucky Souvanthong, Casanzio notched an identical 9-4 win over Zuglan in the first set of the double elimination finals.
Casanzio earned $1000 for his undefeated run, while Zuglan settled for $750 in prize money.
The second chance tournament went a little different than the main event. Local player Mike LaBoissiere took the hot-seat with a win over Bob Cunningham in this 25 player affair.
Cunningham then lost to Bruce Carroll, who proceeded to score a 3-2 and then a 3-0 win over LaBoissiere for the win.
Carroll pocketed $350 for the win, and LaBoissiere took home $250 for second place.
The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour will be at Snookers in Providence, RI over the weekend of March 3-4 for their next stop; the 3rd Annual New England Billiard Hall of Fame 9-Ball Open. That event will feature a total of $3000 in added money between the main event and the second chance tournament.
