Adam Towery went undefeated to take first place in the Great Southern Billiard Tour stop on the weekend of October 16-17. The $1,500-added event drew 30 entrants to Classic Billiards in Conyers, GA.
Towery and Horace Godwin met twice; the first time in the battle for the hot seat. Towery had sent Trent Talbert west 9-3 from among the winners' side final four. Godwin had defeated Jason Steman 9-5. The first of their two meetings was a double hill affair, which left Towery in the hot seat and sent Godwin off to the semifinals.
On the one-loss side, Claude Marrier defeated Jeff Hooks 9-6 and Dave Shadden 9-4 to pick up Steman. Talbert met up with Aaron Frady, who'd shutout Dwayne Brown and defeated John Maikke 9-3 to reach him. Steman and Talbert advanced to the quarterfinals; Steman with a 9-7 win over Marrier, Talbert with a 7-6 win over Frady. Steman went on to a 9-4 win over Talbert to face Godwin in the semifinals.
Godwin prevailed 9-5 in the semifinals and got a second chance at Towery. To no avail, as it turned out. Towery took their second match 9-6, making a second set unnecessary and completing an undefeated weekend on the GSBT.
