The ladies showed up in style for the eighth stop of the Fast Eddie's 9 Ball Tour at the Fast Eddie's World Class Billiards on N. W. Military Drive in San Antonio on Sunday, September 21.
The top picks in a very talented field were Amanda Lampert, the BCA National 8 Ball Singles Champion, Anne Mayes, owner of Annie "O" Custom Cues and former touring pro, Audra Carter, BCA National 8 Ball Team Champion, Sophie Lopez, BCA National 8 Ball Team Champion, and Kim Sanders. Elvie Kompan, wife of Mystick Cues owner and Tour Sponsor - Jack Kompan, Sarah Richards, daughter of Tour supporters Wayne and Lorrie Richards, and Celeste Torres, wife of Steve Espinosa - owner of Rack Em Up Billiards of New Braunfels, were the new faces at the event.
Congratulations to Michelle Cortez for a nice fourth place finish.
Sophie Lopez of San Antonio played very well with victories over Elvie Kompan, 7-1, Kim Sanders, 7-5, Michelle Cortez, 7-5, to reach the finals of the winner's bracket where she received her first loss from Audra Carter, 7-3. In the finals of the one loss side, Sophie was sent to the spectator gallery by Anne Mayes, 5-2, for a respectable third place finish.
Anne Mayes started her quest with triumphs over Celeste Torres, 7-2, Amanda Lampert, 7-6, only to meet up with Audra Carter for her first loss, 7-6. Once in the brutal bracket, Anne had victories over Celeste Torres, 5-3, Michelle Cortez, 5-3, and Sophie Lopez, 5-2, to meet up again with Audra Carter in the finals.
Audra is a full time worker, full time wife and mother, and playing in five leagues a week, a full time pool player and enthusiast. When does she find time to sleep is anyone guess. Audra, with husband Clyde sweating every match from the sidelines, started her march to the hot seat by overcoming Sarah Richards, 7-2, Anne Mayes 7-6, and Sophie Lopez, 7-3. With Anne Mayes coming off the one loss side, the stage was set for a very exciting final match.
Audra took a commanding lead of 4-1 in the final race to seven when Anne made her move to bring the score to 5-4. The ladies traded the next two games to put Audra on the hill at 6-5. Anne, never the quitter, was on a great run out when she left herself to straight on the 8 ball, which left her tricky on the 9 ball. Going for the ninety degree cut instead of the bank, she left the nine hanging in the jaws to cinch Audra's victory, 7-5. Great Shooting, Ladies, and see you next month in McAllen!

2nd Anne Mayes $180
