The twentieth stop of the 50-stop 2008/2009 Pechauer All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) was hosted at Greenfields Pool & Sports Bar in Lakewood, CO, on Saturday, December 13. The $1,000 added “Denver Christmas Open” featured 33 players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes. Bill Skinner (Aurora, CO) dominated Frank Baca (Pueblo, CO) in the A-side finals by a 5-0 margin to gain the hot seat. Previously in the A-side semi-finals, Skinner clipped Mike Hellmer (Fort Collins, CO) 5-3, while Baca strafed Greg Way (Wheat Ridge, CO) 5-1.
The B-side showcased Ernie Martinez (Pueblo, CO) eliminating Rick Field (Lakewood, CO) at 7th place by a 5-4 margin, while Michael De Santiago (Denver, CO) suffered the same 7th place fate at the hands of Leonard Romero (Denver, CO) 0-5. 5th place spots were filled by Greg Way losing out to Ernie Martinez 1-5, and Leonard Romero falling to Mike Hellmer 4-5. Ernie Martinez then stopped Mike Hellmer's march at 4th place by a 5-1 margin. In the B-side finals, Frank Baca ended Ernie Martinez's run at 3rd place, 5-4. This set up Frank Baca's rematch with undefeated Bill Skinner for the title. Baca made things interesting by clipping Skinner 5-4 in the first set, thus forcing a second set for the laurels. In the title set, Skinner reversed the earlier results to out-maneuver Frank Baca 5-2 for the title
By virtue of Rick Field being the highest-finishing ACS member in the event, he qualified for a free 8-Ball singles entry into the 2009 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS. The ACS wishes to thank sponsors J.
