The eighth stop of the 2005/2006 McDermott All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance - ACS) featured a $1,500-added purse and sixty-eight players from as far away as El Paso, Texas and Albuquerque, New Mexico, hosted by owner Bob Jackson at Main Street Billiards in Tucson, Arizona, on the weekend of January 14-15. The event featured double-elimination 9-ball on 9-foot Brunswick Gold Crowns, and Glenn Bond of Phoenix, Arizona, ran undefeated through the field. In the hot-seat match, Bond comfortably dispatched Dennis Orender (Phoenix, AZ) 9-5. In the loser's bracket semifinals, Bob Palmer (Tucson, AZ) was leading Eddie Uber (Phoenix, AZ) 3-1 when Uber's reaction to missing a 7-ball elicited his disqualification for unsportsmanlike conduct. Palmer then eliminated Orender 7-5 in the loser's bracket finals to gain a shot at Glenn Bond. The finals were one race to 11, and Bond again appeared to have the match in hand at 9-2, only to have Palmer catch a gear to tie the score at 9-9! Bond reached the hill first, but Palmer joined him in the next game to force a decisive game. Bond prevailed for the title by an 11-10 margin!
Glenn Bond joined the ACS at the beginning of the event and received the added reward of a free entry to the 2006 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas in June by virtue of being the highest-finishing ACS member.
