Reigning World 9-Ball Champion Thorsten Hohmann is proving that he also plays Straight Pool at World Class level at the Second Annual New Jersey State Straight Pool Championship at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ this weekend.
Hohmann completely dominated Tony Robles in the hot-seat match on Sunday morning. Robles had two trips to the table and was able to make 9 balls before Hohmann ran 116 and out to not only win the match, but also set the new mark for high run at the event. It was Hohmann's 4th 100+ ball run.
On the B-Side of the brackets, Dan Barouty scored a 150-64 win over Jose Garcia. Barouty will next face Robles in the semi-finals, with the winner earning a shot at Hohmann in the finals.
The final winner of the event will pocket $4000 in prize money with the runner-up settling for $2000.
Brackets are online. Mark Whiteside is at the event and will be providing us with reports and pictures from the event.
