NEW YORK (UPI) – Art Cranfield of Syracuse, N.J, celebrated his 47th birthday last night by winning the world pocket billiard championship from Luther Lassiter of Elizabeth City, N.C.
Cranfield built up a strong’ lead by winning five straight blocks of 200 points each and he coasted to a 1200-730 victory over the defending champion.
Cranfield had a high run of 112 during the Thursday after noon block and took a lead of 1901 to 510 into the final block.
Lassiter will get a chance to regain his title in the World Championship tournament here next March.
