This mini interview with Earl Strickland took place after day one of the World Pool League competition in Warsaw Poland in October 2002.
AZB:
You defeated Efren Reyes today 6-4 in another great battle. The two of you always seem to bring out the best game in each other.
Earl:
Yes, I think we bring out the best in each other. We both know one mistake could cost us the match.
AZB:
With wins over arguably your two toughest opponents, how do you feel about your chances in this event?
Earl:
I still have to play the same. Yang is going to be difficult to beat .I just have to play the way I played in the first two matches. With Oliver, I played poorly at first and finished well at the end.
AZB:
You are participating in another event put on by Matchroom Sport. Considering the current state of pool in America, is Matchroom the answer?
Earl:
Nothing compares to Matchroom events. The set up is ideal. The tables play perfect and they treat the players with a great amount of dignity & respect. I thank the organizers of Matchroom for running the tournaments so smoothly and professionally.
AZB:
There is another big Matchroom event coming up in December, the Mosconi Cup. Are you looking forward to playing this year?
Earl:
I am looking forward to it very much. It is the greateast pool event in the world. I am honored to be in this event again.
AZB:
How many years have you been playing on the Mosconi Cup team now?
Earl:
1996 was my first year and I've played ever since. I have been team captain for the last two years.
AZB:
Good luck tomorrow and Sunday in Poland!
Earl:
Thanks.
