Charlie Williams at the BCA Open 9-Ball Championship
by LeFemme of AzBilliards.com

Charlie Williams placed 33-48th at the BCA Open 9-Ball Championship at the Riviera in Las Vegas, NV May 14th-20th.

Charlie went into the tournament not feeling too good.  Charlie didn't play for 3 weeks before coming to this tournament.  He felt burnt out because he had just been on a 4-week road trip, was giving pool lessons and had a lot going on in his personal life.

Charlie played his first match against Dave Hemmah.  He beat Dave 11-9, but only played "mediocre.  We both made mistakes and although it always feels good to win, we are good friends" and so he would have rather have not played Dave.  "But, " Charlie added "he beat me the last time we played."

Charlie's next match was against Earl Strickland.  Charlie ended up losing to Earl 5-11.  The rack was a problem with Earl, but when Charlie plays Earl, it always seems to be a problem.

Then Charlie played Alex Lely next.  Charlie didn't miss a ball during this match!  But, made some safety errors... and Charlie ended up losing 9-11 against Alex.  Charlie received $500 for his 33rd place finish.

Charlie's next tournament will be a Florida Stop in the next few weeks.  Charlie won Player of Year last year on this Tour, but his goal this year is to win a Major.

Charlie was asked which match he liked watching the most and he said definitely the match with George "Ginky" San Souci versus Ralf Souquet.  This is the match where Ginky beat Ralf 11-0!
