WPA To Sanction World Summit of Pool and US Open 9-Ball Championships
On the threshold of the 2005 WPA Men’s World 9-Ball Championships in Kao-Hsiung, Taiwan, July 2-10, the World Pool-Billiard Association – the world governing body for pool – is pleased to announce it has finalized negotiations with Robert Lipson and Barry Behrman to sanction their respective events in 2005 – the World Summit of Pool in New York City, NY (USA), September 13-16, and the US Open 9-Ball Championships in Chesapeake, VA (USA), September 18-25.
WPA President, Ian Anderson, of Sydney, Australia, observed that “having both prestigious events next to one another on the world calendar would be an attraction to top international players, and all parties involved felt that further heightening the prestige of both events through more overseas representation and giving the world’s top players a convenient opportunity to compete in two major events back-to-back could not be passed up! The WPA will do its share to encourage its continental members on six continents to support these events with their best of the best!”
For ticket and entry information on these two United States-based WPA-sanctioned events, visit www.upatour.org and www.usopen9ballchampionships.com. Information on the WPA is available at www.wpapool.com.
